Vintage enamel sponge holder - Amsterdam

Hello, hello, sorry for the radiosilence. I am currently in Amsterdam spending time with family. I had to work hard last week to finish all errands before flying over to Amsterdam. I am here with Matteo and left mr. Beau home to let him work and make the money. We have celebrated my 31st birthday and his 1st year ( Matteo has his birthday the 26th oficially)
Many things I have done since I arrived here last weekend, got many nice DIY projects cause I have been buying more furniture...yes really, our house is already full, but as we are planning to move to a bigger place we need more furniture and I am collecting them now already hihi.
Above picture is an vintage enamel sponge holder, for those big yellow natural sponges... I came across this picture a while ago while browsing Martha Stewart's website. Martha Stewart collects these vintage enamel sponge holders and soap holders. I spotted mine during a flea market, first time ever I see one of these, they are quite rare. I am amazed it comes in such good condition, no flaws or chips missing. Mine is the picture below. My iphone takes poor quality photos lately...sorry for that
I am going to use our vintage sponge holder for the same brushes and scrubbers as Martha does.

So where is that damn good flea market...It's called Ijhallen, and it's located in the north of Amsterdam in a huge old ship building factory. It gives a nice vintage feel to the ambiance. If you go by public transport, it's nice to go from Central station and cross the river by a ferry that takes you there. It's a flea market where everyone sells their old stuff, a lot of clothes and also many vintage vendors. It's only held once a month, check their calender here.

These old class posters, are nice as wall decoration, search well and you'll find one that matches your interest.
Matteo and me comfortable dressed against the cold weather.
Lovely to be back home...

lunch table in my office

Sorry for not posting so often, I am enjoying my holidays with mr beau and the bebe.
Today is my last day at the office and I wanted to show you my vieuw, when I have my quick lunch.
A picture of my dear friend and world-traveller/photographer Masha, an esty hummingbird painting, and vintage found black and white painting of Rome, and vintage horse plate and zebra monogram plate. I am leaving mr Beau home alone as I am on my way to stay with family and friends in Amsterdam. Enjoy your holidays!

Random Beau Lifestyle

Last weekend spend some time at the beach, really like neon nailpolish on my toenails.

Walking with Matteo, my stubborn baby, who likes to sit up and wants to be held in arms instead of lying in the stroller. But I do enjoy his cuddles and his curiosity of his surroundings.

Going to an auction today, excited. Have you attended one once in your life...I might be bidding on something...

My days abroad II

Here are a few more pictures I took with my Iphone during my stay in Amsterdam, I visited a nice store (You and Home living)  that sells vintage and antique furniture. I really liked the collection of blue and white jars.

They have decorated the shop like someone´s house, and everything is for sale!

This is the vieuw from the store, lovely huh?
The adress of this lovely store is:
You & Home Living Second Best Gerestylde Meubels, Noordereinde 249, 1243 JV 's-Graveland (Noord-Holland)

Just an ordinary flower shop in Amsterdam ( wish we had them over here like this...)

Coming home to a happy daddy that wanted to have a walk with his son...priceless

I am happy family and friends in Holland have met Matteo finally!

vintage silk scarf pillows

Did you ever had the guts to turn your vintage pucci, hermes or any other pretty silk scarf into a pillow?
I haven´t, but after coming across these images I might want to do some DIY.
After all, it´s a waste to have your scarfs locked up in a closet if you can enjoy to see them every day, when turned into a pillow.

my favorite Etsy picks today

Sometimes I can´t help myself, falling in love with the vintage items from the sellers over at Etsy.
Here is what I picked out for you:
This faux bamboo night stand with ring pulls. The same seller also offers the elephant as a vase.

These pretty and original vintage vogue prints, so you can make a collection of them
to hang them either in your closet or boudoir.

This vintage crane bird ice bucket with gold detailing is very Lonny Magazine.
This is a vintage lucite ice bucket/chest, not cheap but such a great eye catcher on your bar cart for sure.

Inspirational DIY roomdivider

Have you collected vintage scarfs before and now you don´t know what to do with them?
Pull out your sewing machine and make this Roomdivider.
NOTE: don´t use your vintage Hermes and pucci ones, that would be a pitty.
If you don´t have them, start buying them at flea markets, garage sales, vintage boutiques....anyware, they always come in handy.

New finds for our home

I have been to the Monday morning market (Maandagmorgen markt) wich is a market for fabrics, vintage clothes, curiosities and antiques. The market is in the hart of Jordaan district, centre of Amsterdam along the famous canals. I do recomend to go here early and pick up some treasures, and do negociate.
Did find some sweet vintge things for out home.
This is the nightstand in my old bedroom at my parents house, the antique cristal lamp is my there always to give enough light to read at night, The Litograph is by Michael Parkes wich I was obessed/loved with as I was younger, I have bought many of his pretty litographs.
The Malachite art deco plant pot is bought today, I am soooo happy with it as it is unusual to see such a large object made of malachite, peach roses as a gift from my mum. The brass olw is also a market find, as the cristal and glass plates to hold my jewelry at night.

vintage year 60 ice box/cooler

Yesterday evening after a long day of work, beau boyfriend and I went for a cup of wine, but we passed by an funky antique store ( I have to go back to that store and take some pictures, and make a separate post about it, for you to imagine what I am talking about, the store is unique!)
A vintage year 60 silverplated icebox caught my eye, especially the square masculine shape attracted me instead of round usual iceboxes i have seen....and it had a crocodile pattern.
Beau boyfriend picked it up and bought it for me as a suprise, what a nice end of the day.
6 matching crocodile silver plated coasters were included also.
I was looking for coaster for a while now, even considering to buy the iomoi ones, but found them too expensive.
At least I am not more on the hunt for coasters.
